Chinese political advisors attending their annual session here in Beijing on Wednesday said the government should take active measures to create a more favorable environment for the development of private firms.

"We should create a favorable legal, policy and market environment which is conducive to the fair competition of private firms," said Zhang Longzhi, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) at the second plenary meeting of the Fourth Session of Tenth CPPCC National Committee held on Wednesday afternoon.

Although a dozen departments have promulgated supporting documents since China's cabinet, the State Council, issued 18 sets of documents encouraging the development of private firms economic sector, "there remains much room to be improved," he said.

"Efforts must be made to encourage private enterprises to enter the traditional government-monopolized sectors, which is not only conducive to the development of these sectors but also help to create more opportunities for private firms in their industrial upgrading," said Liu Yingxia, a member of the CPPCC National Committee and vice-chairwoman of Heilongjiang Federation of Industries and Commerce, northeast China, on the same occasion.

It is a "win-win" choice for private firms to enter the traditional government-monopolized sectors, she said.
