Malaysian DPM calls for positive view of China's developmentMalaysian Deputy Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak said Thursday that Asian countries should look at China's development in a more positive perspective. The "emergence of China as a global player must be met with a higher degree of openness and a sense of commonality and friendship," said Najib. The strategy is founded on the idea of mutual interests and benefits, as a successful China "will lead to greater prosperity for the region," said Najib at the opening ceremony of the " Malaysia and East Asia" seminar here. China has become part of international norms and practices and strengthened its cooperation with the outside world in both political and economic fields, said the deputy prime minister. He added that China's accession to the World Trade Organization in 2001 was an important development not just for China but also for other countries which had trade relations with the country. The two-day seminar is organized by Malaysian Strategic Research Center. About 100 representatives comprising researchers and officials in some Asian countries as well as delegates of embassies based in Malaysia attended the opening ceremony. Source: Xinhua |
