Eight new cholera cases have been reported in the Angolan capital, Luanda, in the past 24 hours without claiming any lives, announced the Provincial Health Director, Vita Vemba.
He explained that these new cases occurred in different districts and some cases have been detected in the central Prison zone, a situation he considers as a worrying one.
Since the cholera outbreak was declared on February 13, from the 181 cases detected 11 people passed away, representing a mortality rate of six percent.
He appealed to the population to take measures of prevention on how to disinfect or boil water in order to hinder the spread of the disease.
Awareness campaigns are being given to citizens through the mass media, churches and direct contacts with the communities.
