In his speech at the Third China Internet Conference, Safa Rashtchy, a managing director and a senior Internet research analyst with Piper Jaffray - an Internet Investment bank, pointed out that Baidu has strengthened its dominance in searching service in China which is extremely hard for Google challenge.
Safa noted that the current conference helped them understand it is difficult to break the dominance of Baidu. Google has officially set up an agency in China last May, but the market share of Baidu.com in China has climbed to as high as 46.5 percent in 2005, surpassing Google by almost 20 percent, according to a market survey.
There was once an opinion that Google would narrow the gap with or even surpass Baidu after it entered the Chinese market.
