France beat China 1-0
font size

France beat China 1-0 in their second group game of the Algarve women's football competition on Saturday.

France scored the winner in the 2nd minute when midfielder Elise Bussaglia's drive cracked China's defence and flew past the goalkeeper Han Wenxia.

China pushed very hard to get the equalizer, but due to lack of ideas in attack, they never created any dangerous chances before a France's dogged defence.

France seemed content sitting back after the early goal and their well-organized defence absorbed up all China's attack.

"We conceded an early goal, that disrupted all our plan," lamented China's head coach Ma Liangxing.

"I asked my players not to lose any goal in the first half. But we did lose one in the second minute when they lost their concentration, and after that the players did not know how to play," he said.
