The Indonesian police said Monday they are in full alert to any possibilities of terror attacks during a visit by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who is due to arrive in Jakarta later in the day.
"We are in full alert to (possible attacks) from any group, any country," National Police Chief Sutanto told reporters.
Sutanto also said there was no permit request from any organization to hold rallies during Rice visit, adding "I hope there won't be any."
Several Muslim groups here have threatened to mobilize a big crowd to protest U.S. policies on Iraq and Palestine during Rice's first visit in Indonesia as the U.S. secretary of state.
Rice is scheduled to meet on Tuesday with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, her counterpart Hassan Wirajuda and several Islamic scholars.
