Construction of Three Gorges Dam to consummate

The full completion of the construction of the Three Gorges Dam will be realized at the end of April or the beginning of May this year, according to Cao Guangjing, deputy general manager of China Three Georges Project Corporation.

The dam is 2,309 meters long and 185 meters high. A total of 16.1 million cubic meters of cement will be used in the construction. To satisfy the needs of flood control, power generation, shipping and relocation, the construction has been divided into two stages on the left bank and right bank of the Yangtze River.
