China hopes for cooperative ties with U.S. in energy field: FM spokesman

China and the United States should be cooperative in energy sector, instead of being competitive, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang in Beijing Thursday.

Qin told a regular press conference that China and the United States share wide and potential prospect in energy cooperation, which not only covers oil and gas resources, but also includes renewable and clean energy.

The two sides should jointly explore ways to conduct energy cooperation through the established mechanism and relevant channels, the spokesman said.

China is ready to cooperate with other countries including the United States in the energy field on equality and mutually-beneficial basis, Qin noted.
