Chinese Vice Premier stresses food safety, IPR protection
font size

Chinese Vice Premier Wu Yi highlighted food safety and intellectual property rights protection at a national meeting on Friday, urging relevant government departments to strengthen supervision in 2006.

Food safety in rural areas will be put high on the government agenda, said Wu at a teleconference to rectify market order.

China will develop a modern logistic network in the countryside to drive fake and inferior food out of the rural market, she said.

Wu underscored that China will continue to crack down on the intellectual property rights infringement. The move is also part of the efforts to build an innovative country.

Other major work to be carried out in 2006 include the crackdown on pyramid selling and business fraud, said Wu. In particular, China will try every means to keep illegal pyramid selling activities away from schools.
