Organizers of Thailand's Red Cross Fair are negotiating with anti-Thaksin demonstrators rallying in front of the Government House to seek space for this year's fair, scheduled to be held from March 29 through April 6.

Representatives of the fair's organizing committee held talks Saturday with Maj. Gen. Chamlong Srimuang, a core leader of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD)-led demonstrators, to ask for the groups' move from the venue of the charity fair, held in the area annually for more than 80 years.

The Red Cross Fair normally covers the area from the Misakawan intersection in front of Government House to the Royal Plaza on Rajadamnoen Nok Avenue.

The talks have not yet concluded, as Maj. Gen. Chamlong asserted that the demonstration must be continued until caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra agrees to step down, the Thai News Agency said.

He, however, said that he would raise the issue at a meeting of the PAD's leading members Saturday evening.
