No virus of bird-flu has been found in the birds, which died unexpectedly in Morang district in eastern Nepal, it was informed here Monday by Nepal's Central Veterinary Research Lab after conducting experiments in the
laboratory on carcass of the dead birds.
Dead crows and mainas were brought here on Sunday to identify the cause of their death after various types of birds started to die in the district, some 400 km east of Kathmandu.
According to the information given by former chief of the laboratory Rewatiman Shrestha, those birds did not die of bird flu but are found suffering from various germs and worms from the experiment.
Culture of the carcass to identify the bacteria has been undergoing and the report is yet to come, Chief of the Microbiology Unit of the Laboratory Purnima Manandhar said.
Locals in the district are a terrified lot as 20 birds of different species died mysteriously in recent days.
The experts said the cause of the deaths of birds will be clear after examining the dead birds in the Kathmandu-based laboratory.
