Laos aims to further reinforce friendly relations with China, which have already undergone smooth development over the past years, a Lao government official said in Vientiane Tuesday.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Somsavat Lengsavad, who has just been elected as the member of Political Bureau of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee at the Eighth Party Congress, said that the LPRP has been maintaining very friendly relations with the Communist Party of China (CPC). In recent years, high-level exchanges and visits between Laos and China further deepened the mutual trust between the two parties, two peoples and two countries.
Somsavat said the Lao-Chinese friendly ties of cooperation are moving towards a comprehensive and effective direction and have scored fairly positive achievements. He said he was confident that Laos-China relations will further be enhanced and promoted in future.
The Eighth Congress of LPRP was officially opened on March 18. During the four-day event, delegate listened to discussions on issues related to the party leadership over the past five years. They also discussed the sixth five-year plan on socio-economic development, which is expected to be carried out in the next five years.
