U.S. says it has no plans to attack DPRK
font size

The United States said on Tuesday that it has no plans to attack the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and urged the DPRK to return to the six- party talks.

"We've been very clear, the president, the secretary of state and others have made it very clear that the United States has no plans to invade or attack North Korea," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack said at a briefing.

McCormack also urged the DPRK to return to the six-party talks.

"What we would do, first of all, is encourage the North Korean government to return to the six-party talks to engage in serious discussions," McCormack said.

The United States has urged the DPRK to return to the six-party talks at an early date. However, the DPRK has said it will not return to the talks if the United States does not lift the sanctions imposed on it last year.
