Hong Kong Police launched Thursday the "Help the Police Fight Youth Crime Competition 2006", according to the Hong Kong government website.
The biennial competition, which is held for the 16th time, aims to enhance youngsters' alertness of juvenile crimes and encourage them to help Police fight crime.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, the commissioner of Police Lee Ming-kwai said, "Hong Kong Police will continue to work closely with the government departments and the community including schools, parents and relevant organizations to prevent and fight youth crime."
Lee said that the competition was a good example of Police-community cooperation and hoped it would strengthen young people's understanding of the consequences of drug abuse.
In this year's competition, with the theme Anti-drug Abuse, participants will be evaluated on their capabilities through web games, essay writing, tests in leadership skills and interviews.
It is open to primary, secondary and tertiary students, and winners will be awarded scholarships and have the chance to visit Australia as Hong Kong's fight crime ambassadors.
