Commissioner's office holds reception for new commissionerThe Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) held a reception here Wednesday to welcome new Commissioner Lu Xinhua's assuming office. Lu Xinhua said at the reception that Hong Kong has overcome many difficulties and stood various tests since its return to the motherland in 1997. It has done so with the full support of the Central Government and through the joint efforts of the HKSAR government and the Hong Kong compatriots. Lu said that the concept of "one country, two systems" has not only been fully implemented and achieved splendid success, but also has taken root and manifested great vitality. A prosperous and stable situation has been steadily consolidated and developed. Lu expressed his honor to work in the office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR. "Since its establishment, the Commissioner's Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the HKSAR has, in strict compliance with Article 13 of the Basic Law, shouldered the lofty mission of exercising sovereignty in foreign affairs," Lu said.
