Eduardo Joaquim Mulembwe, president of the Mozambican parliament, said Friday that China's experience in agricultural development could help with the African country's efforts to eliminate poverty.
Mulembwe made the remarks while meeting with a visiting Chinese trade delegation led by Wan Baorui, a senior official of the agricultural commission of the National People's Congress of China.
Highly valuing the two countries' traditional cooperative relations, Mulembwe said the Mozambican government had put agriculture at the top of its economic priorities.
Given that China has a great deal of valuable and successful experience in developing agriculture, the Mozambican government hoped to reinforce bilateral cooperation in that sector to help eliminate domestic poverty.
Prior to the meeting, Mozambican Prime Minister, Luisa Diogo, also talked to the Chinese delegation on Wednesday.
She welcomed investment from Chinese businesses and hoped to see further bilateral cooperation in a range of fields, including training in agricultural human resources, processing of agricultural products, energy and tourism.
Wei Jianguo, Chinese deputy commerce minister, stated that China was committed to the promotion and support of cooperation in those sectors.
The delegation will leave for China on Saturday.
