China's Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday said it will reconstruct 100 large wholesale markets specializing in farm products and foster 100 large farm product trading companies around the country.
The government will sort out 100 large wholesale markets of farm products in a bid to add more infrastructure projects and upgrade their market information exchange, quarantine capabilities and fowl trade and slaughtering, the ministry said.
Meanwhile, the government will push forward the standardization and cooperation among 100 large trading companies of farm products, it said.
The ministry said this is aimed at greatly reducing the transactional and transport cost of farm products in the country, and enabling over 30 percent of farm products to be sold in supermarkets.
It will increase farmers' incomes and create more job opportunities in the countryside, the ministry said.
