Tunisia tops North Africa on mobile phone subscribers, according to a latest report released by the World Bank.
The statistics showed that 55 percent of Tunisians, who account for more than half of the country's total population, have mobile phones. Up to September 2005, every 100 people possessed 54.4 mobile phones in Tunisia, the highest percentage in North African countries.
The report noted that Tunisia is leading other North African countries in the sector of information and communication technologies. But when it comes to the number of Internet users, Tunisia is in the second place after Morocco in the region.
