Chinese senior legislator vows to enhance ties with Rwanda

A senior Chinese legislator told Rwandan Defence Minister Marcel Gatsinzion Tuesday in Beijing that China supports the Rwandan government's efforts for national unity and economic development and will enhance cooperation with the country.

Lu Yongxiang, vice-chairperson of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, made the remarks during his meeting with Gatsinzi and his party in the Great Hall of the People in downtown Beijing.

Lu hailed the friendly relations and traditional friendship between the two countries and their people, saying that bilateral cooperation in political and economic fields is "fruitful".

China highly appreciates the Rwandan government's pursuance of the one-China policy and support to China's re-unification strive, Lu said.

Gatsinzi thanked China' aid and support to Rwanda politically and economically, saying that the Rwandan government will go on adhering to the one-China principle, support China's reunification drive and enhance cooperation with China in all fields.

Gatsinzi is here for an official visit as guest of his Chinese counterpart Cao Gangchuan.
