Visiting Polish Foreign Minister Stefan Meller said Wednesday Poland and China have agreed to set up cultural centers for each other to promote the understanding between the two peoples and bilateral cooperation in various fields.

At a news conference in the Polish Embassy in Beijing, Meller said he met on Wednesday with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Vice Chairwoman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee Gu Xiulian, and Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing.

The two sides exchanged views on bolstering their cooperation in trade, culture and technology, Meller said. They also discussed to explore cooperation in agriculture, environmental protection, coal industry and mine equipment.

Poland is interested in China's most sophisticated technology, Meller said. He found that the container monitor developed by China's Tsinghua Tongfang company could help his country to fight against smuggling.

He hoped such Chinese companies would invest in Poland and cooperate with Polish enterprises.

China is Poland's most important partner of in Asia, the foreign minister said, expressing the hope that his current visit would further enhance bilateral exchanges in various fields and push forward the contacts between the youths.

Meller arrived in Beijing Tuesday for a three-day official visit as a guest of Li Zhaoxing.
