Urugayan president meets new Chinese ambassador

Uruguayan President Tabare Vazquez met Wang Xiaoyuan, the newly-appointed Chinese Ambassador to the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, and held talks with him at the Palace of Independence on Thursday.

During the talks, Vazquez asked Wang to transfer his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to Chinese President Hu Jintao.

He spoke highly of the bilateral friendly relationship and cooperation in areas of politics, economy, culture, and science and technology.

Vazquez said he believed that the friendly ties between the two countries would be further improved during Wang's tenure.

Before the meeting, the Uruguayan president accepted the credentials presented by the new Chinese ambassador, who arrived here on March 17.
