Turkey's economy increased by 7.6 percent in 2005 after 9.9 percent growth in 2004, the Turkish Statistical Board (TUIK) announced on Friday.
According to economic figures released by the TUIK, Turkey's Gross National Product (GNP) in 2005 exceeded 360.8 billion U.S. dollars, with a growth rate of 7.6 percent.
Meanwhile, its Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reached 361.4 billion U.S. dollars in 2005, and the annual increase rate was 7.4 percent after 8.9 percent in 2004, the statistics showed.
On the other hand, the growth rate of GNP in the last quarter of 2005 was recorded as 10.2 percent, and that of GDP as 9.5 percent.
Turkey has succeeded in implementing an economic reform program and in establishing macroeconomic stability since an economic crisis hit the country in February 2001.
