Indonesia to halt CPO export to India over high dutyIndonesia considers halting crude palm oil (CPO) export to India due to high duty that reaches 85 percent, Bisnis Indonesia newspaper reported Friday. Hartojo Agus Tjahjono, director of agriculture export with the Ministry of Trade, was quoted as saying "If there is no benefit, CPO export to India must be stopped." He said Indonesia has made government-to-government approaches to persuade India to lower duty but the efforts were fruitless. The government considers bringing the case to the World Trade Organization, he added. Indonesia sells the average of 1.8 million tons of CPO to India every year. Source: Xinhua |
