Thailand's Dhading District Administration Office (DAO) has imposed a curfew on the highways linking the Nepali capital, Kathmandu, from 9 p.m. (1500 GMT) to 4 a.m. (2200 GMT) starting from Monday.
According to the DAO order, the curfew will be imposed on the areas around the Prithvi highway from Nagdhunga of Kathmandu to Mouwa River of the district.
Prithvi Highway is the major highway linking the capital with the rest of the country.
Citing that the curfew was imposed to maintain peace in the district, Chief District Officer of Dhading Ram Sharan Chimoriya said the curfew was imposed on all blacktopped roads of the district, including the district headquarters, some 50 km west of Kathmandu.
The opposition parties have announced four-day general strike and rally on April 6-9 against the year-old direct rule of the king.
The government imposed a day-long curfew in January this year on the day the opposition alliance planned a massive rally.
The government, however, did not say if it would resort to similar measures to foil the opposition strike in Kathmandu.
