Florida hopes to attract Chinese travelers
font size

Florida's booth at the China Tourism Fair held in Beijing on Monday seemed to as hot as the Sunshine state itself as many Chinese expressed interest in travelling to Palm Beach, Disneyland and Kennedy Center.

China and the United States signed tourism cooperation memorandum in 2004 and set up tourism working group later, in order to enhance bilateral tourism cooperation. Despite high travel costs and difficulties getting visas, the number of visitors from China to the United States, which are mainly officials and business people, is still growing.

Last year, nearly 400,000 Chinese visited the United States. Tourism officials from Florida said they believed that when the United States opens to more Chinese travelers, more Chinese people will enjoy the sunshine and sea in Florida.

China is one of the fastest growing tourist nations in the world and now has more tourists travelling overseas than any other Asian country.
