Kenya can benefit from Chinese experience in human settlement: officialKenya's Vice President Moody Awori said Monday that Kenya could benefit greatly from China's experiences in human settlement. Awori was speaking in Nairobi when he received a Chinese delegation led by the Minister for Construction Wang Guangtao and China's Ambassador to Kenya Guo Chongli. Wang is in Kenya to attend the African Ministerial Conference on Housing and Urban Development currently underway in Nairobi. The Chinese minister was invited as a special guest speaker to share China's experience in improving its human settlements. Awori lauded the minister's speech at the meeting and said Kenya could benefit greatly from a Chinese program, where low income earners in informal settlements have been resettled in improved shelter, provided with water, education and health. The Chinese minister said China could also learn a lot from Kenya in fields like conservation measures of its environment. Awori said China recognized the tourism potential in Kenya by allowing direct flights of Kenya airways between the two nations. The vice president thanked the Chinese government for its support to Kenya, particularly in the fields of health, sports sectors and infrastructure in the country. He cited the construction of Kasarani Sports Complex, equipping of Eldoret referral hospital with drugs, and the building of various roads.
