A car bomb detonated in eastern Baghdad on Tuesday, killing seven people and wounding 22 others, an Iraqi police source told Xinhua.

"A car bomb parking beside the road went off at around 3:30 p.m. (1130 GMT) in the eastern Habibiya district," the source said.

All the casualties are civilians, he said, adding that the scene had been cordened off by U.S. and Iraqi military forces.

The bombing attack came one day ahead of the resumption of Saddam Hussein's trial in Baghdad.
