Chairman of top Chinese advisory body, Jia Qinglin, met with Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in Beijing Tuesday, praising her important contribution to promoting China-Thailand relations.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), spoke highly of the role played by the Thai royal family and Princess Sirindhorn in pushing for relations with China and the friendship between the two peoples, calling Sirindhorn as glorious envoy for China-Thailand friendship.

China and Thailand, as friendly close neighbors, have made fruitful cooperation in politics, economy and culture, Jia said, noting that China is ready to work with Thailand to push forward the development of bilateral relations.

Sirindhorn expressed appreciation for Chinese government's assistance for Thailand's tsunami disaster relief work.

The princess said she has visited China for many times, with the purpose of learning more about China and making more efforts to promote the friendship between the two peoples and enhance bilateral cooperation, especially in cultural and educational sphere.

Princess Sirindhorn arrived in this capital city Monday afternoon for an 11-day visit to China at the invitation of the Chinese government.

This is Sirindhorn's 23rd visit to China in the past 25 years.
