Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar and Chairman of the State Great Hural, the Parliament, Tsendiin Nyamdorj separately met visiting China's Supreme People's Court President Xiao Yang in Ulan Bator Wednesday.

While meeting Xiao Yang, the Mongolian president stressed the necessity and importance of judicial exchange and cooperation between the two countries, regarding them as important parts of friendly bilateral relations. He also supported further exchange and cooperation between the two judicial systems.

Xiao said the Chinese judicial department was willing to strengthen cooperation with its Mongolian counterpart, to look after the interests of the Chinese and Mongolian peoples, to protect peace and stability between the two nations, and to maintain harmony of the international community using judicial and lawful measures.

Nyamdorj noted the specific importance of judicial cooperation between the two countries during the meeting with the Chinese top judge. He hoped the judicial departments of China and Mongolia would further exchange information and join hands in combating crime.

Xiao said his current visit was intended to enhance mutual understanding, cooperation and exchange between the judiciaries of the two countries, in order to provide a beneficial judicial guarantee for cooperation between the two countries in economic, trade, scientific and technological fields.

Earlier in the day, Xiao also met with Chief Justice of Mongolia's Supreme Court on ways of enhancing cooperation and exchange between the supreme courts as well as local courts of the two countries, reaching broad consensus.

Xiao arrived here earlier in the day to start a three-day goodwill visit to Mongolia.
