Thai princess visits Chinese eastern province

Thai Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn visited East China's Zhejiang Province on Wednesday.

Lu Zushan, governor of Zhejiang Province, welcomed Sirindhorn upon her arrival at the capital city of Hangzhou, saying she's a respectable guest of local people.

Sirindhorn voiced her hope to promote economic and cultural cooperation between Thailand and Zhejiang. She even discussed with Lu the source and development of local opera.

Sirindhorn visited a scenic spot and a high-tech telecommunications company there Wednesday afternoon during her second Zhejiang tour.

The princess left Beijing Wednesday morning for Hangzhou, the second stop of her 23rd China tour since 1981.

She will then travel to East China's Fujian Province, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Guangdong Province.

During her stay in Beijing, Sirindhorn met with Chinese top advisor Jia Qinglin, Vice Premier Hui Liangyu and attended a series of cultural activities.
