    Joint anti-terrorism drill in SW China

    Special soldiers are on their way to the target spot. A large-scale joint anti-terrorism drill, involving public security forces, armed police forces, fire control and other departments, was held in Jinyang district of Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou Province on April 6. The drill aims to improve the city's emergency disposal ability.

    UK confirms H5N1 virus in dead swan

    Two birds are seen at a park of London, UK, April 6, 2006. Tests confirmed on Thursday the H5N1 avian flu virus in a sample from a swan found dead one week ago in Fife, Scotland, first of this kind found in UK.

    Iran continues with the military drills

    An Iranian vessel participates in the military drill along the Persian Gulf on April 5. Iran started a week-long joint military exercises along its south Persian coastal lines and territorial waters. During the exercises, Iranian troops have tested several new missiles and torpedoes.

    An expected snow falls in the north hilly region of Beijing on April 6. Snowfall in big feathery flakes hits north Beijing's Yanqing County Thursday.

    Sharon undergoes successful operation
