Chinese President Hu Jintao's upcoming visit to Morocco could help promote the development of bilateral relations, said Taib Fassi Fihri, special envoy of the King of Morocco, here Friday evening.

Fihri, who arrived here Thursday for preparatory work for President Hu's visit to Morocco, made the remarks at a press conference in the Moroccan embassy to China.

Fihri said Morocco and China, enjoy traditional friendship and have witnessed in recent years frequent high-level visits and rapid growth of bilateral economic and trade relations.

President Hu's visit will help cement the existing fruits of Morocco-China relations, Fihri said, noting that the Moroccan people look forward to this visit.

According to the special envoy, during President Hu's stay in Morocco, the two sides would sign a series of agreements on bilateral cooperation, covering such fields as tourism, science, technology, culture and medical treatment.

Currently many Chinese companies have made business in Morocco, and performed actively in such fields as electricity and infrastructure construction, Fihri said.

With President Hu's visit, Moroccan companies could learn more about the experiences from their Chinese counterparts, said Fihri.

Morocco and China have made sound cooperation in fishery, textile and other fields, and maintained rapid growth of bilateral trade, Fihri said, noting that Morocco is satisfied with the current situation of bilateral economic relations.

He said China will play a more and more important role in Morocco's development process, and the two countries share potential prospects in bilateral cooperation.

Morocco's market would provide huge opportunities for Chinese investors, he said, hoping that more Chinese companies would join in Morocco's economic development process.

Fihri also reiterated Morocco's stance on the Taiwan issue, saying that Morocco adheres to the one-China policy, and supports China's reunification.
