Nepali government declared a day- long curfew on Saturday from 10:00 am local time to 9:00 pm in Nepali capital, Kathmandu Valley.
The government's decision was made after the seven-party alliance's nationwide four-day general strike beginning from April 6.
Home Minister Kamal Thapa Friday said the government will explore all constitutional and legal provisions to control disruptive activities aimed at destabilizing the state machinery and spreading terror among the people in the name of the so-called political movement being launched "in collusion with the terrorists."
"The government has many options to curb such unruly activities, the type of option it would prefer to put into effect would unfold in the streets Saturday and in the days to follow," Thapa told reporters.
The government, however, is determined to protect the life and property of the citizens through effective security measures if the seven parties fail to realize that violence would not serve as a means to mitigate the situation, the minister added.
