Greek stocks closed higher on the Athens bourse on Friday, traders here said.
The Athens share index closed at 4,291.89 points, showing a rise of 1.16 percent. Turnover was 410.3 million euros (509.2 million U.S. dollars). The index hit its highest level since September 2000.
The FTSE/ASE-20 index for high capitalization shares ended 1.03 percent up, while the FTSE/ASE-40 for medium cap stocks and the FTSE/ASE-80 for small cap shares rose 1.50 percent and 0.93 percent respectively.
Of stocks traded, advances led declines at 165 to 96 with 56 remaining unchanged.
On a weekly basis, the general index gained 4.11 percent.
