Visiting Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao held talks on Saturday with his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen. The two leaders pledged to establish and develop a comprehensive partnership of cooperation between their two countries.

During the talks, Wen said there were no unsolved problems between the two nations, but friendship, trust and cooperation. He also expressed satisfaction about the constant progress in the bilateral relations.

The Chinese government attaches great importance to its relations with Cambodia and wishes to promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation in all fields under the guiding principle of good-neighborliness and friendship, he said.

Wen said China would keep supporting the Cambodian government's efforts of safeguarding national stability, consolidating national unity and developing the economy.

The relationship between China and Cambodia is developing into a new stage and the two countries should grasp the opportunity to deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation and join hands in promoting the comprehensive partnership of cooperation, the Chinese premier stated.

Wen also expressed his hope for maintaining the regular contact between the leaders, the parliaments and the parties of the two countries and to expand bilateral trade and cooperation in energy, mineral exploitation and other fields.

He said China intended to promote exchanges with Cambodia in the aspects of culture, education, health and between the youths as well.

Wen also expressed the wish to enhance consultation and coordination over international and regional issues between the two nations.

For his part, Hun Sen said that it has been the Cambodian government's firm policy to develop the friendly and cooperative relations with China. Cambodia will strictly abide by the one China policy, and support China's great cause of national reunification, he said.

During the talks, the Cambodian prime minister said that his country welcomed investment by Chinese enterprises and the development of bilateral cooperation in such fields as trade, water and electricity, mineral resources exploitation and infrastructure construction.

China will continue to provide assistance without any preconditions to developing countries including Cambodia, so that they could develop together, Wen said.

Hun Sen expressed appreciation to China's assistance, saying China has never interfered in other country's internal affairs. He regards China as an important force of safeguarding world peace and promoting common development, the prime minister said.

Wen stressed that China supported the integration process of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and backed ASEAN in playing a leading role in the process of East Asian cooperation.

The Chinese side is willing to work closely with Cambodia to ensure the success of the China-ASEAN summit marking the 15th anniversary of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations, which is to take place in Nanning, China, in October, said the premier.

Hun Sen said he has decided to attend the conference.

Cambodia is ready to work with China to deepen the cooperation between China and ASEAN, he said.

After the talks, the two leaders attended signing ceremonies of a series of cooperation documents, including the agreement on economic and technical cooperation between the two governments.

They also attended the foundation-laying ceremony of the office building of the Cambodian government and the starting ceremony of the construction of a hydropower station, which is to be built with the Chinese aid.

Wen returned to Beijing Saturday evening after official visits to Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Cambodia from April 1 to 8.

During the tour, Wen attended the opening ceremony of the first China-Pacific Island Countries Economic Development and Cooperation Forum held in Fiji.

He met with leaders of those countries and pledged that China would enhance economic ties with them.
