Two bomb explosions rattled southern Afghan province of Kandahar, the birthplace of Taliban militants, Sunday morning wounding 11 people including three Afghan soldiers, an official confirmed.
"Two bomb explosions in a span of 10 minutes targeted a five- vehicle convoy of Afghan National Army (ANA) in Kandahar at 8 o' clock this morning wounding 11 persons including three soldiers, three police and five civilians," commander Khir Mohammad of ANA in the region told Xinhua.
He declined to point finger at any particular group or individual. However, he added that the first explosion attracted the attention of troops, and when police and soldiers rushed to area to conduct a search operation, the second bomb exploded and caused the damages.
It is the second violent struck the restive region over the past two days. A similar explosion shocked western Herat province Saturday left four persons dead and wounded nine others with majority of them civilians.
Remnants of the ousted Taliban regime say that some 600 persons have registered to conduct suicide attacks and intensify their activities in spring when the weather gets warm.
Over 200 people including 14 American soldiers have lost their lives in Taliban-led insurgency since the beginning of this year.
