Stocks opened lower almost across the board on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Monday.

In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 148.64 points, or 0.85 percent, to 17,414.73.

The broader Tokyo Stock Price Index of all First Section issues was down 13.89 points, or 0.78 percent, to 1,769.83. The Second Section also fell.
