According to the latest statistics by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers,China's new sedan sales reached 890,000 units for the first three months of the year, which was nearly one-third of the total sales last year.
The top ten brands are Xiali, Elantra, Excelle, Santana, QQ, Jetta, Accord, PASSAT, Qiyun, and Corolla. 39.31 percent of the sales, or 351,000 units, were by those brands.
Experts predict that the rising oil price would drag down the sales from the second quarter.
China's passenger vehicle sales may hit 4 million units this year, making it the second largest auto consumer in the world after the United States, the China Business News reported on Monday.
Figures from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers show 2.78 million sedans were sold on China market in 2005.
