Trucks needed to run cargo service between Nepal and China

A Nepali transport company is seeking government funds to purchase new trucks to run cargo service between Nepal and China.

Sajha Yatayat, a state-owned transport company, submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Labor and Transport Management recently, seeking funds for the purchase of 50 trucks for running cargo service in different parts of the nation, and between Nepal and China, executive chief Mukunda Raj Satyal said in Kathmandu on Sunday.

The company submitted a proposal, asking for 100 million Nepali rupees (1.4 million U.S. dollars) for purchase of trucks, he said.

"We asked the government to either grant the sum or give it as loan to be paid back in 10 years," he added.

He said that the accord reached between Nepal and China to run Kathmandu-Lhasa bus service also needs cargo services by trucks.
