China unveils top 50 tourism destinations for foreign travelers

A total of 50 scenery spots and human landscapes selected through public appraisal have been listed as China's top 50 tourism destinations for foreign travelers. On April 8, a grand ceremony was held at the Grant Hall of People to mark the event.

The 100-day long non-governmental appraisal was sponsored by Canada's The Global and Mail and other provincial newspapers across the country. Through massive selection, Internet, text messages as well as newspaper questionnaires, the organizing committee composed of sponsors and diplomatic envoys to China has selected 50 among some 200 shortlists by balloting and heeding the opinions of the judges.

The top 50 ideal tourism destinations for foreign travelers are:

Imperial Palace in Beijing;

M. Qomolangma in Tibet Autonomous Region;

Hong Kong SAR;

Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan Island;

Huangshan Mountain, Jiuhua Mountain, Xidihong Village in Anhui province;

Badaling Section of Great Wall in Beijing;

Gulangyu-Wanshi Mountain, Taining World Geological Park in Fujian;

Mogao Grottoes and Kongtong Mountain in Gansu province;

Watchtower in Kaiping, Guangdong province;

Yangshuo Xi Street, ancient town of Huangyao in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region;

Shuanghe Cave tourism spot in Guizhou;

Wuzhizhou Island in Hainan Island;

Village of North Pole in Mohe Helongjiang province;

Shennongjia Forest Reserve in Hubei;

Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie, Hengshan Mountain in Hunan;

Badain Jaran desert, A'er Mountain in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region;

Huaguo Mountain in Lianyungang, Zhou Zhuang in Jiangsu province;

Lushan Mountain, Jingdezhen and Longhu Mountain in Jingxi province;

Imperial Palace, Yongling, Fuling and Zhaoling Mausoleums in Liaoning;
