Tokyo stocks open higher

Stocks opened slightly higher on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Tuesday, with oil-related issues gaining ground.

In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 17.54 points, or 0.10 percent, to 17,474.12.

The broader Tokyo Stock Price Index of all First Section issues was up 2.71 points, or 0.15 percent, to 1,780.05. The Second Section also rose.
