font size

Members of China's top advisory body convened in Beijing Tuesday to discuss its agenda in the coming session.

The 35th chairman meeting of the Tenth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) proposed the agenda to its 14th session of the Standing Committee of the Tenth CPPCC's National Committee.

Jia Qinglin, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, presided over the meeting, which agreed that the coming session should focus on "concepts of building a new socialist countryside and improving innovation skills".

The meeting also set forth five tasks for the session, underscoring that 2006 is the start of the national five-year economic and social development program to 2010.

This year is also the first year for the implementation of proposals by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, regarding the further strengthening of the CPPCC's work.
