Singaporean Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong arrived in Beijing on Wednesday afternoon, starting a week-long official visit to China at the invitation of Chinese government.

During his stay in China from April 12 to 18, Goh Chok Tong is scheduled to meet with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Jia Qinglin and State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan.

Besides Beijing, he will visit eastern Chinese cities of Shanghai and Suzhou.

This is Goh Chok Tong's first China visit since he took up the post of senior minister in August 2004.
