Hong Kong Marine Police Thursday said that they arrested 11 men and seized 636,000 optical discs and film negatives worth more than 12 million HK dollars (1.5 million US dollars) in an anti-smuggling operation near Waglan Island.

A total of 123 boxes with 123,000 optical discs and a small quantity of film negatives were found onboard when police spotted several suspicious vessels off Waglan Island and intercepted a speedboat.

Two persons from the mainland, 25 and 43, were arrested for attempting to export unmanifested cargo.

Another Police launch intercepted a cargo vessel off Shek O, seizing 513,000 optical discs. Nine Hong Kong men, aged 20 to 27, were arrested for helping export unmanifested cargo.
