Chinese across the Taiwan Straits have the capability and wisdom to resolve the existing problems for the peaceful and stable development of cross-Straits relations and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, a senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official said Friday.

They can make joint efforts for this purpose, said Jia Qinglin, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee at the opening of a cross-Straits economic and trade forum.
