font size

With the concerted efforts of compatriots across the Taiwan Straits, more positive factors have appeared to check the "Taiwan independence" secessionist activities, top Chinese official Jia Qinglin said Friday in Beijing.

Jia, member of Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remark at the opening of the Cross-Straits Economic and Trade Forum.

Cross-Straits relations are heading toward peace and stability and compatriots across the Taiwan Straits share the wish of building a peaceful and stable cross-Straits relationship, Jia said.
