A senior official from China's National People's Congress (NPC) on Friday encouraged youths from China and the Republic of Korea to work for the traditional friendship.

Xu Jialu, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, made the remarks when meeting with a 100-person youth delegation of the ROK, which pays the visit at the invitation of the All-China Youth Federation.

Xu, who engaged himself in the study of the Chinese language, said he recruits ROK students for doctor's degree every year.

"They have promoted bilateral friendship and I hope all of you can have more understanding of China through the visit," he said.

Besides Beijing, the delegation will also visit Tianjin Municipality and Hangzhou City in East China's Zhejiang Province.
