Visiting Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan visited Singapore's Changi Naval Base on the east coast of the city state Friday.
Cao, who is also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of China and a State Councilor, toured the navy's tactical training center, which is a key part of the Naval Training Command, and was briefed on how the navy operates.
He also boarded the RSS Endurance, a self-designed and built landing ship tank equipped with state-of-the-art technologies. It is the Republic of Singapore Navy's largest class of ship.
Cao arrived here Thursday for a three-day official goodwill visit to the city state at the invitation of his Singaporean counterpart Teo Chee Hean.
He met with Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and had a talk with Teo on Thursday.
This is the fourth leg of Cao's tour to five Asian countries, which also includes the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Republic of Korea.
