First World Buddhist Forum to continue in Zhoushan, Buddhism land
font size

More than 1,000 Buddhist monks and experts moved on Saturday to the nearby Zhoushan city in east China's Zhejiang Province, where they will hold a lantern ceremony to pray for world peace.

The ceremony is to be staged in Putuoshan, an islet of Zhoushan known as "Buddhism kingdom on the sea."

One of the four renowned Buddhism resorts of China, Putuoshan is most famous for a Goddess of Mercy rite among over 20 temples and monasteries.

The forum, whose theme is "a harmonious world begins in the mind," is expected to adopt a Putuoshan Declaration before its conclusion Sunday.
