The Second China-ASEAN Telecommunication Week, formerly known as China-ASEAN ICT Ministerial Forum, will be held in Malaysia's northern city of Pinang begining Monday.
Participants to the event, which also embraces several other sideline activities, such as the China-ASEAN ICT Business Forum, are expected to exchange information and discuss ideas and policies for a stronger strategic cooperation in the Information and Communications Technology (ACT) in the region.
Ministers and other senior officials from China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) are expected to attend the five-day gathering at Pinang City, capital of Pinang State.
The First China-ASEAN Telecommunication Week was held by three stages in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen -- three major cities in China on May 12-18, 2005. Hundreds of senior officials and business people from ASEAN countries attended the event.
The China-ASEAN ICT Ministerial Forum, a major component of the first Telecom Week, adopted the Beijing Declaration, calling for the establishment of ICT cooperative partnership for common development.
